The Caribe Wave Exercise is an annual exercise conducted during the month of March. The purpose of the exercise is to assist the Caribbean and adjacent regions, including US and Canadian East Coasts, the Gulf of Mexico and Bermuda with testing and improving their national tsunami preparedness, planning and response capability.

The Intergovernmental Coordination Group for Tsunami and other Coastal Hazards Warning System for the Caribbean and Adjacent regions (ICG/CARIBE-EWS) of the United National Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s (UNESCO) Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) and the US National Weather Service and National Tsunami Hazard Mitigation Programme facilitates the Caribe Wave Exercise.

The Caribe Wave 16 tsunami scenario simulated a tsunami generated by a magnitude 8.4 earthquake located north of Venezuela.

The initial dummy message was issued by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre (PTWC) on Thursday, 17 March 2016 at 14:05 UTC and disseminated over all its standard broadcast channels.

The dummy message was issued to test communications with Tsunami Warning Focal Points and Emergency Management Organizations, and to start the exercise.

Caribe Wave 16 was in the form of a Table Top Exercise with selected entities from Holetown, St James. Holetown is a bustling community located in the western parish of St James. It is a low lying coastal area and particularly vulnerable to rapidly forming events which can generate flooding from rainfall and from coastal hazards such as storm surges.

The Caribe Wave Lantex 15 tsunami scenario simulated a tsunami generated by a magnitude 8.5 earthquake located just north of Panama in the Southwest Caribbean Sea.

The initial dummy message was issued by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre (PTWC) on Wednesday, 25 March 2015 at 14:05 UTC and disseminated over all its standard broadcast channels.

The dummy message was issued to test communications with Tsunami Warning Focal Points and Emergency Management Organizations, and to start the exercise.

Caribe Wave Lantex 15 involved conducting an evacuation exercise at the Alleyne School, Belleplaine St Andrew and a table top exercise at the Barbados Light and Power Company located in Spring Garden, St Michael.

The Caribe Wave Lantex 14 tsunami scenario simulated a tsunami generated by a magnitude 8.5 earthquake located 270 km of the coast of Portugal.

The initial dummy message was issued by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre (PTWC) on Wednesday, 26 March 2014 at 10:05 UTC and disseminated over all its standard broadcast channels.

The dummy message was issued to test communications with Tsunami Warning Focal Points and Emergency Management Organizations, and to start the exercise.

Caribe Wave Lantex 14 involved conducting an evacuation exercise at the St James Primary School, Trents, St James.

The Caribe Wave Lantex 13 tsunami scenario simulated a tsunami generated by a magnitude 8.5 earthquake located 57 miles of Oranjestad, Aruba.

The initial dummy message was issued by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre (PTWC) on Wednesday, 20 March 2013 at 09:00 HRS and disseminated over all its standard broadcast channels.

The dummy message was issued to test communications with Tsunami Warning Focal Points and Emergency Management Organizations, and to start the exercise.

Caribe Wave Lantex 13 involved conducting an evacuation of the following communities located in St Joseph:
